Torbat- Heydareh, with 9945 sq. km. area and 323.000 populations is one of
the largest cities located in central part of Khorassan province in the east of
Iran, specially known for its agriculture. In fact Torbat-H is one of the top
three centres for producing about 23 agro- products.By producing about 60 tons
of saffron, Torbat- H is the first in the world and with 70% of the country's
total silk production it is the first in the country.
With 98 industrial and 19 active mineral units, Torbat-H is reckoned as a
strategic industrial area in the province. Sugar refinery, textile producing,
electrical wires and copper plates, wheat flour, and cement production factories
are only parts of Torbat .H profile. Raw material Quarries including barite,
silica, magnesite Bentonite, calc, industrical clay, limestone, silver, gold,
Turaquoise and structural stones (granite, marble, and travertine) and several
other mines has made Torbat a huge quarry Pole in the country and even in the
world.
Historical profile
The history of Zaveh , one of the subordinate Zones of Torbat – H , goes back
to the ancient era of Arsacides , but Torbat –Heidarieh itself gains its name
and fame by the famous Sufi of the 11 century B.C "Qutbodin- Heidar" who was
buried in the same town at era of Safavids . It was then that Torbat-H started
to grow, however the splendor and fame of the existing town goes back not more
than 200 years ago at the age of reign of "Ishaqkhan Ghraii" one of the qajar
rulers in the region. Torbat- Heidarieh was has had a leading role in both the
Constitutional Movement and the Islamic Revolution of the recent years.
